Passive Voice of Simple Past Tense



Change from Active Voice to Passive Voice.

Active Voice Pattern-General
  • Subject + Verb + Object + other words.
Passive Voice Pattern-General
  • Object + Verb + by Subject + other words.
Passive Voice of Simple Past Tense

PV of Simple Past Tense - Affirmative

Active: We flew many kites yesterday.
Passive: Many kites were flown by us yesterday.

Changes:
  1. Put the object first.
  2. then was/were + V-3
  3. then 'by + object form of Subject'
PV of Simple Past Tense - Negative

Active: We didn't fly many kites yesterday.
Passive: Many kites weren't flown by us yesterday.

Changes:
  1. Put the object first.
  2. then was/were + not + V-3 (did is removed)
  3. then 'by + object form of Subject'
PV of Simple Past Tense - Interrogative

Active: Did we fly many kites yesterday?
Passive: Were many kites flown by us yesterday?

Changes:
  1. Was/Were (according to the new subject)
  2. then put the object
  3. then V-3 (Do or Does is removed)
  4. then 'by + object form of Subject'
More Examples:
  1. I saw a snake yesterday. (AV) - A snake was seen by me yesterday. (PV)
  2. We didn't receive the parcel. (AV) - The parcel wan't received by us. (PV)
  3. Did she love you ? (AV) - Were you loved by her ? (PV)
  4. They made a new website before two days. (AV) - A new website was made by them before two days. (PV)
  5. Bianca saved her lover. (AV) - Bianca's lover was saved by her(Bianca). (PV)
